The exhibition Luc Tuymans: Point de vue sur l'Europe centrale/The Reality of the Lowest rank is divided into two distinct parts: the first is devoted to the plastic arts and the second to animated films from central Europe, a hotbed of creativity for these types of creation. Edwin Carels (KASK/HoGent) has selected several films made by artists of different nationalities, spanning the generations. The list includes several Polish film makers whose films are being shown thanks to the support of the Cultural Service of the Polish Embassy in Belgium.

The category ‘animated films’ takes in both encounters and screenings, as you can see below:
4 November 2010: Marcin Giżycki presents a series of films by young Polish artists
13 November 2010: The Baltic Poetical film, films and Bram Crols conference*
18 November 2010: Priit Pärn presents some of his animated films
25 November 2010: Jerzy Kucia presents some of his animated films
2 December 2010: Quay Brothers present some of their animated films
9 December 2010: Igor Kovalyov presents some of his animated films
06 January 2011: Syberberg en de Monomane Cinema - of de naakte ziel van Duitsland (Syberberg and monomaniac cinema or the naked soul of Germany). Films and conference by Harry Kümel, with an introduction by Hans De Wolf (VUB).

Every day, from 22 October until 23 January, from 19:15 until 19:45, a screening of Steps by Zbigniew Rybczyński will be held. The concept is as follows: a group of American tourists, a little too curious for their own good, take over a shop devoted to the Russian cinema classic, Battleship Potemkine by Sergeï Eisenstein.
This free, open-air screening takes place at the Concertgebouw.
