Throughout 2010, RTBF classical radio will be celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great Romantic pianist and composer Fryderyk Chopin.
Over the course of the year, Musiq’3, in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the network of Francophone Public Radio (RFP), will be broadcasting a plethora of concerts, thematic programmes and other festive radio events based on the Polish composer.
The events will commence on the radio in the last weekend of February, one day before the actual birthday of Fryderyk Chopin (1 March 1810).

A chance to explore Chopin’s musical universe, from his love for the composers of the past to his relationships with his contemporaries (Liszt, Berlioz, Bellini, etc).
• 10:00 – 11:00: How Fryderyk Chopin viewed his contemporaries (Part one)
• 11:00 – 12 :00: How Fryderyk Chopin viewed society and the world
01/03 (Chopin’s date of birth)
The entire day marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Chopin will be interspersed with little ‘Chopinesque’ touches:
• 7:00 – 9:30: ‘Point du Jour’ special (‘Chopin’s Birthday’).
• 9:30 –11:00: ‘Le rendez-vous des musiciens’ will be devoted to Chopin (from Monday 1st March, all ‘Rendez-vous des musiciens’ which are broadcast on a Monday will be about Chopin).
• At 20:00, Musiq'3 will rebroadcast, live from Warsaw, the Grand Chopin Concert with Martha Argerich and Rafał Blechacz.
To mark Chopin Year, Musiq'3, in collaboration with the Universal record label, is bringing out a Chopin special edition double CD (in the shops from the beginning of February), comprising all of the composer’s work by his greatest interpreters, including Maurizio Pollini, Martha Argerich, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Get ready to (re)discover the many facets of the greatest composer of the Romantic age on Musiq’3!

• 16:00 – 18:00: guests on ‘Table d’écoute’ will blindly compare different versions of the Sonata n° 3 for Piano in B minor, Op 58.
• 13:00 – 14:00: Allusion to Chopin in ‘Si ça vous chante’
• 14:00 – 15:30: Chopin and the Voice
